New York City Resources
The Rockefeller campus, located along the East River on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is a short walk to many of New York’s outstanding museums, theaters, concert halls, cultural centers, sports arenas and art galleries. A quick bus or subway ride brings students to many other exciting parts of the city, such as the South Street Seaport and the Financial District, Greenwich Village and SoHo, Chinatown and Lincoln Center, with its plays, concerts, opera and ballet. Free tickets to activities at Lincoln Center, on Broadway and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music are often available to Rockefeller graduate students, by courtesy of friends and trustees of the university.
Those who like being outdoors can bike, stroll or run along the East River esplanade that adjoins the campus, or enjoy Central Park with its small zoo, summer Shakespeare festival and free concerts, ice-skating rink, boating pond, walkways, and running and bicycle paths.
