Operation

Hours of Operation

EMRC staff are available 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. To use the facility outside these hours, users must be approved by the Director for off-hour access and must be trained on the center’s procedures and equipment. Access to the facilities during non-business hours is by electronic card key. The Director will authorize Security to activate your Rockefeller University ID card for access to those areas of the center for which you are approved, depending on electron microscope needed.

Priority

Service is provided on a first-come first-served basis. EMRC places highest priority for scientists from the Rockefeller.

Talk to Us First

Please contact us before you run an EM experiment. EM requires unique preparation and experiment design.

Incidents and Troubleshooting

Please make sure to inform us immediately if you experience any problems with the microscopes or other tools so that we can address the issue as soon as possible. Please note that repeated failure to notify EM staff of technical problems may result in the suspension of user privilege in the EMRC. To report or review recent incidents, see the Incidents Note on our website.

Authorship or Acknowledgement

Co-authorship or acknowledgement of the EMRC (or individual staff) in publications and presentations helps to demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of this resource center and centers in general and can help strengthen the resource center programs. – In accordance with University policy and accepted academic and research publication practice and ethics faculty members are asked to recognize the contributions of University Resource Centers in publications and presentations if the results reported relied — in whole or in part — on equipment, services, expertise and/or data generated at a Center. Appropriate acknowledgment of Resource Centers enables the University to demonstrate involvement of the Centers in the research of a large number of laboratories and aids the University in procurement of future equipment. Inclusion of Resource Center staff as authors and acknowledgment of Resource Center staff contributions, as appropriate, aid the University in recruiting and retaining the best possible scientific expertise and creates a more collegial and interactive research environment.
