Gene Expression Analysis
Affymetrix Expression Arrays
Our Affymetrix whole genome expression analysis service can be used in two ways:
-
Full service: Users only need to provide us total RNA samples. We will check sample quantity and quality with Agilent BioAnalyzer, amplify and label the samples, set up hybridization, process and scan the arrays, and transfer data to users.
Sample submission:
Minimum 0.5 µg total RNA in 10 µl volume for 3’IVT arrays
Minimum 1.0 µg total RNA in 10 µl volume for exon arrays -
Array hybridization and processing only: Users provide us biotin-labeled, fragmented cRNA samples. We will set up hybridization, process and scan the arrays, and transfer data to users.
Sample submission:
20 µg fragmented cRNA in maximum 40 µl volume
Illumina Expression Arrays
Illumina currently provides genome-wide expression microarrays for human, mouse, and rat. Illumina expression arrays are in three formats: 6 samples per chip, 8 samples per chip, and 12 samples per chip.
Please check company website www.illumina.com for updated product information.
Our Illumina whole genome expression analysis service can also be used in two ways:

Sample submission:
Minimum 0.5 µg total RNA in 10 µl volume -
Array hybridization and processing only: Users provide us biotin-labeled, non-fragmented cRNA samples. We will set up hybridization, process and scan the arrays, and transfer data to users.
Sample submission:
For 12-Sample BeadChips, 750 ng cRNA in 5 µl volume
For 8-Sample BeadChips, 750 ng cRNA in 5 µl volume
For 6-Sample BeadChips, 1.5 µg cRNA in 10 µl volume
Real Time PCR
We offer two instruments for real time PCR: ABI 7900HT for 96-well plates and Micro Fluidic Cards, and Roche Light Cycler 480 for 384-well plates. Users are responsible for setting up assay plates. Please contact us genomics@rockefeller.edu if you need help. Users are welcome to come to our lab to get empty PCR plates and seals.
