New support group available. The Employee Assistance Program Consortium is offering a support group this spring for parents of infants and toddlers. The group will meet on consecutive Mondays beginning April 2; all sessions will meet from 12 to 1 p.m. at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. EAPC counseling services are free to all Rockefeller employees and their dependents. To register for a group or to schedule an individual appointment, call (212) 746-5890.

Recycle your alkaline batteries. In response to recommendations from the university’s Green Task Force, an alkaline battery recycling program is now in place, managed by Lab Safety and Environmental Health. Alkaline batteries — distinguished by the word “alkaline” printed on the casings — from work or home use can be deposited in any of 10 collection containers across campus. From there, a process including an acid bath, kiln drying and blending with carbon steel results in reusable zinc-oxide and steel alloy bricks. Lab Safety will continue collecting non-alkaline batteries separately, through the chemical waste program, in accordance with government regulations. For more information, contact Lab Safety, (212) 327-8324.

Save the dates. Human Resources will host Rockefeller’s annual employee recognition events this spring. “Take your child to work day” will take place Thursday, April 26. The anniversary retirement dinner will be on Wednesday, May 2. The employee art show will be Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 25. The employee recognition reception is Wednesday, May 16. For more information, contact Alana Manthorn at x8300 or manthoa@rockefeller.edu.
