The Kavli Foundation(opens in new window) is dedicated to advancing science for the benefit of humanity, promoting public understanding of scientific research, and supporting scientists and their work.
The Foundation’s mission is implemented through an international program of research institutes, professorships, symposia, and other initiatives in the fields of astrophysics, nanoscience, neuroscience, and theoretical physics. The Foundation is also a founding partner of the Kavli Prizes(opens in new window), which recognize scientists for their seminal advances in astrophysics, nanoscience, and neuroscience.
The Kavli NSI at Rockefeller University was established in 2015 by a $20 million endowment supported equally by The Kavli Foundation and Rockefeller University. The Kavli NSI represents a portion of a $100 million commitment of new funds from the Foundation to enable research aimed at deepening our understanding of the brain and brain-related disorders.
Kavli NSI is part of a network of seven Kavli Institutes carrying out fundamental research in neuroscience:
- Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind(opens in new window)
