Usage Rates for Fiscal Year 2025
User fees associated with specific services, instruments, training and/or consultation is provided below.
For budget planning purposes, we strongly encourage you to speak with Resource Center staff in advance of initiating use of the Center.
For illustration purposes only, we provide three examples of how researchers typically use the Electron Microscopy Resource Center and the resulting user fees associated with that use:
- Conventional TEM of 2 samples (Control and Problem):
Discussion/consultation (1hr) free
Sample processing (8hrs, up to six vials)= 8 x 120= $960
Ultramicrotomy (ultrathin sections) (1.5 hr/sample)= $360
Grid staining: 0.5 hr= $60
TEM imaging 2 hrs= 2 x $120+ 2 x 57= 240+114= 354
Total $1754 - Conventional SEM of 2 samples (Control and Problem):
Discussion/consultation (1hr) free
Sample processing (6hrs, up to six vials)= 6 x 120= $720
Use of Critical point dryer +Sputter coater $60
SEM imaging 2 hrs= 2 x $120+ 2 x 57= 240+114= $354
Total $1134 - Training of operation of TEM-SEM for independent use:
6 hours = $600.
Microscope time waived during training time.
