More on Special Events

Peggy Rockefeller Concerts is a series of outstanding musical performances by internationally acclaimed artists, all held in Caspary Auditorium on the Rockefeller University campus. Subscriptions, general admission, and discounted student/postdoc tickets are available.

The Pearl Meister Greengard Prize, established by the late Dr. Paul Greengard and his wife Ursula von Rydingsvard, annually recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding women scientists. It is named in memory of Dr. Greengard’s mother, who died giving birth to him.

Science Saturday is an annual STEM festival for students in grades K–8. At this unique event, organized by the RockEDU Science Outreach Program, Rockefeller scientists lead participants in hands-on activities, demonstrations, and talks designed to engage young students in scientific discovery. To learn more, contact sciencesaturday@rockefeller.edu.

Talking Science is designed to engage high school students with a strong interest in science and their teachers. This annual event, led by a member of Rockefeller’s world-class faculty, includes a morning lecture with Q&A followed by interactive activities organized by the RockEDU Science Outreach Program and Rockefeller scientists.

The Lewis Thomas Prize for Writing about Science honors the rare individual who bridges the worlds of science and the humanities – whose voice and vision can tell us about science’s aesthetic and philosophical dimensions, providing not merely new information but cause for reflection, even revelation. Lewis Thomas, the noted physician, scientist and essayist who died in 1993, was the prize’s inspiration and its first recipient in 1993.

The Insight Lecture Series is designed to bring leading speakers on sciences, arts and humanities to Rockefeller to address the wider interests of the scientists on campus — staff, students, postdocs, and faculty alike.

In addition to the lectures and concerts held on campus regularly throughout the year, the university also hosts campus-wide events, including Convocation for Conferring Degrees.
