Financial Information Systems

The Finance Information Systems unit is responsible for managing the changes made to the University’s Oracle Financial System as well as their operational support.  As a liaison between the Controller’s Office and the University’s Information Technology Department, our team represents the business perspective on efforts affecting the University’s Financial Systems.  This Unit also gathers specifications for development of new financial reports. 

Areas of Focus:

  • Ensure that all external interfaces into the Oracle E-Business suite are functioning properly
  • Develop and Maintain robust reporting tools to provide high quality financial and management information to University departments
  • Provide guidance to University departments on financial reporting issues
  • Maintenance of the University’s proprietary budget system
  • Once a systems change is to be implemented, provide the framework to manage and document the change
  • Implementation:  Business Framework for Organizational Change
  • Functional testing of systems upgrades

Several Oracle tools have been introduced to assist you in monitoring your awards and budget in an on-line mode.   Registration is necessary in order to use the on-line tools and the registration must be approved by the Award owner before access can be enabled.

On-Line Access:

ASI – Award Status Inquiry –  permits the user to view awards in an on-line mode within the Oracle System.    ASI Form
GIS – Grants Information System – allows the user to view awards in an on-line mode interfaced with Oracle that displays Award information in a typical budget format with drilldown capacity for details.    GIS Form
