The Rockefeller University Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
The Rockefeller University IBC provides oversight of research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules conducted on campus and is specifically charged with ensuring compliance with University policies and the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules (NIH Guidelines).
Work with recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules at The Rockefeller University, must be conducted in accordance with the NIH Guidelines regardless of the source of funding. The NIH Guidelines are designed to ensure that basic and clinical recombinant DNA research is conducted in accordance with safe and responsible research practices, including provisions for safety of personnel and protection of public health and the environment.
Upon request, when possible and consistent with protection of privacy and proprietary interests, the University may open IBC meetings to the public. The University reserves the right to hold executive sessions during IBC meetings. Executive sessions are not open to the public.
