Anna Fels, M.D.
Anna Fels, M.D., graduated with a B.A. from Harvard College and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. Early in her career, Dr. Fels completed a residency in internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and conducted research in immunology at The Rockefeller University. She did a second residency, this time in psychiatry, and is currently a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Payne Whitney Clinic of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she teaches psychiatric residents and junior attendings.
Dr. Fels is the author of Necessary Dreams: The Role of Ambition in Women’s Changing Lives. She has lectured and been an advisor on this subject at academic institutions, corporations, and the International Monetary Fund. She has written articles for multiple sections of The New York Times as well as for other publications, including The Harvard Business Review and The Times Literary Supplement. Dr. Fels originated and chaired the “Writers and Readers” series of lectures by distinguished authors for the medical students and staff of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
