Convocation 2007
For Rockefeller University’s newest class of scientists, the pomp and circumstance of June 21 was infused with a strong dose of high spirits. Rockefeller’s 49th Convocation began with a Moroccan-inspired reception on June 20, followed the next day by a formal luncheon, gowning and a procession across campus, a graduation ceremony presided over by President Paul Nurse and a gala reception in Weiss Café.
The class of 2007, the third of the David Rockefeller Graduate Program, includes 17 women and 11 men from 12 countries: Canada, Chile, China, Germany, Ireland, Korea, Mexico, Romania, Taiwan, Turkey, the United States and the former Yugoslavia. This year’s graduates represent nearly a century and a half of combined research and study, and bring Rockefeller’s alumni roll to 951. Seven of them, students in the Tri-Institutional M.D.-Ph.D. Program, will continue on to medical school, and the others will begin careers in academia and industry.
This annual Convocation issue of BenchMarks salutes the Rockefeller University class of 2007.
